Elvis' national TV debut 65 years ago

January 28, 1956 the "King of Rock & Roll" was barely known. His first major label release, "Heartbreak Hotel", hit the stores the previous day. Presley's appearance was on Stage Show, a program hosted by big-band leaders The Dorsey Brothers. Elvis performed Ray Charles’ “I Got a Woman” and a medley of two Joe Turner songs, “Shake, Rattle and Roll” and “Flip, Flop and Fly.” It would be nearly 8 months before the "King" made his famous Ed Sullivan Show debut.
