40 years ago this week, Mick Jones, lead guitarist with The Clash was fired by the other three members who claimed he'd 'drifted apart' from the original idea of the group. It came just a year after the band had reached new heights of success with the release of Combat Rock (1982). The album spawned the US top 10 hit "Rock the Casbah", helping the album to achieve a 2× Platinum status.
