R&B singer Aaliyah's birthday (1/16/79)

American singer Aaliyah was introduced to the world on "Star Search" when she was just 10 years old. While she became known as the 'Princess of R&B', she also experimented with Heavy Metal and Latin Pop. Her stardom was cut short when her charter plane crashed during August of 2001, in the Bahamas.
