Not only is Chicago the home of AccuRadio, but it’s also the homebase for several fantastic summer music festivals. The warm weather is here and music festival season is finally upon us, and we thought that would be the perfect time to share our guide to some of Chicago’s top summer outdoor music events. Plus, you can even get a preview of the artists performing at each festival right here.
Starting tomorrow, this weekend features two premier music festivals that will grace our lakeshore.
The Chicago Blues Fest is known the world around. Not only is it the largest free blues festival in the world, it’s also the largest of the city’s festivals drawing over 500,000 fans to the Blues Capital of the World. This year’s festival features artists like Buddy Guy, Syl Johnson, and Shemekia Copeland, as well as centennial tributes to Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. You can listen to a selection of music from the artists who will be performing on our Chicago Blues Festival channel.
This weekend also features Chicago’s largest electronic music festival, Spring Awakening. Long known for as the birthplace of House music, Chicago’s taste in dance music has expanded as DJs have begun to take over as festival headliners. This weekend, EDM fans will get to dance and revel outdoors for three days to some of electronic music’s biggest names, such as Zedd, Tiësto, Hardwell and Afrojack. Preview the artists performing with Festival: Spring Awakening.
This weekend’s festivals are just the tip of the iceberg, as we look forward to Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, and the Chicago Jazz Fest. We hope that even if you can’t make it to Chicago for a music festival this summer, you’ll still get out and rock out with AccuRadio! Enjoy the sunshine, and tell us what festivals YOU’RE looking forward to in the comments!
