Ali/Frazier "Fight of the Century" this day in '71
It was the first time that two undefeated boxers fought each other for the heavyweight title. In their first of three bouts, champion Joe Frazier faced Muhammad Ali (who had been stripped of his title in 1967), in the "Fight of the Century" on March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York. Frazier won in a 15-round unanimous decision, but Ali would avenge the loss in their next two fights.
